International News
T
his year we welcomed seven new International students from
China and Japan. This includes three girls from our sister school St
Margaret’s School Tokyo, Japan. These girls are joining us to prepare
for the IB Diploma, as their school is currently going through the process of
becoming an IBWorld School. We also have international students returning
from India and Korea.
There is a number of international experiences this year for our students.
In Term 1 the College will be hosting students from France and China
along with Scots College. QMC Students will also be travelling to Beijing
and Shanghai with Scots College in April this year on a new trip. We also
have international experiences in Chile, USA, Fiji and Australia, plus senior
school students will be given the opportunity to attend the Global Young
Leaders Conference. Lastly after a successful Year 9 and 10 Exchange to
Singapore last year both schools are working on plans for this year.
Chinese New Year at QMC

ear 7 and 9 students studying Chinese got into the festive
spirit learning about how Chinese New Year is celebrated.

They practised Chinese Calligraphy, which the students quickly
discovered was a delicate process and also how to make lanterns

This was the first
year that Year 7 students
have been given the optionof takingChinese.TheHead of Languages,
Florence Hamon, was thrilled with the number of students opting for
this subject and will be working on an introductionary programme
for Year 5 and 6 students later on in the year.

returned for a visit 10 years after their exchange.
