SPRING 2026 InTouch | 3 NEWS ROUNDUP Harry’s grant From Round 2 of the BJMF, MDANZ was delighted to contribute $500 towards a second e-bike battery for member Harry Ward. Harry’s bike has been specially set up to carry his medical equipment, including his ventilator and oxygen tank. The additional battery will allow him to travel further and continue enjoying bike rides with his brother, Mum and Dad — something that brings Harry both joy and a wonderful sense of inclusion and belonging. These rules (sometimes known as the‘40-Series’) are well over 20 years old and need reform. Harry with his dad on a family bike ride. South Island Te Waipounamu Branch Update We have been blown away by the response to the luncheons across the South Island this year. Around 100 members from Blenheim, Nelson, Dunedin and Christchurch enjoyed a social catch up over lunch. These numbers were higher than expected which resulted in the Christchurch luncheon being split across two dates. We would like to thank Allied Medical for supporting our luncheons through their sponsorship and a huge thanks to our volunteers, members and staff team who ran sausage sizzles and other wonderful fundraisers for our branch. This allowed us to provide subsidies for members and caregivers at each event. Bradley Jenkin Memorial Fund – Round 4 Applications for Round 4 of the Bradley Jenkin Memorial Fund are now open and close on 31st October 2026. Members with a condition can apply for funding for vehicle and home modifications, technology, education, sports, hobbies, driving lessons.
