Your body produces proteins that are “stop growing” and “slow down” signals. For muscle and bone, these include activins and myostatin. KER-065 (rinvatercept) is an investigational drug that is designed to act like a decoy or a sponge that circulates in your blood and catches these “stop/slow” signals. Normally, activins and myostatin are important to stop or slow the growth of muscle and bone tissue. By inhibiting the eƒects of these proteins, it is possible that damaged muscle and bone tissues may have a better chance to regenerate, which could slow the progression of DMD.
