Jessica Palairet:
Outstanding Scholar Awards
Outstanding Scholarship in English and Music, and Scholarship in History
Jessica was one of 60 students throughout New Zealand awarded an Outstanding Scholar Award. This comes with
a monetary award of $5,000 per year for up to three years. We further congratulate her on being the only young
woman in Wellington to receive one of these prestigious rewards.
Jessica is currently in her first semester at Auckland University, doing a conjoint Law and Arts Degree, with a
double major in Politics and History. She comments on life at university so far, “I am enjoying all my classes and find
the content really interesting. At the moment I am studying the whole of American History, Music History - from
Medieval music right up to modern pop and Hip Hop, and International relations, as well as Law, where we look at
the NZ legal system and how law interacts with society. It is all really interesting, and it’s cool to be able to really pick
and choose your courses to cater for exactly what you’re interested in. I also like being around so many people who are
interested in similar things.”
