4 When our science community needed investment, you gave generously. With your help, researchers have continued to pursue knowledge, edge towards milestones and make groundbreaking discoveries. Much of the research in this report has seen the world turn its gaze on our nation, and we can all feel proud of the results. One of the most inspiring stories is on pages 12-15. Clot retrieval – a procedure whose introduction to NZ is linked to early Neurological Foundation funding – has impacted thousands of stroke patients over the past decade. Many describe the outcome asmiraculous. What other treatmentsmight be on the horizon? Prevention is another kind of miracle. A highlight this year has been our strengthening of public outreach. By putting brain health information into the hands of people across NZ and reachingmore deeply into different communities, we’re empowering people to make informed choices. It’s an excellent way tomake a differencewhilewe await the next research breakthroughs. With your continued support, we’ll keep investing wisely in neurological research and education with our sights set on a brighter future. Matthew Slater, Chair Rich Easton, CEO From our Chair and CEO We’d like to start by saying thank you. In the past year, you – our loyal donors, collaborators and friends – have stayed laser-focused on supporting brilliant neurological research right here in NewZealand.
