“Bas is absolutely incredible. He and the rest of the community really do give me hope!” Online viewer Our recorded events garnered tens of thousands of views on our YouTube channel. Two featuring international speakers – Professor Bas Bloem (Parkinson’s disease) and Professor Jon Stone (functional neurological disorder – FND) – attracted close to 20,000 views. Other researchers, both in-person andonline, shared knowledge about a range of neuro conditions including traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, early-onset dementia, Parkinson's disease, early- onset epilepsy, migraine, brain cancer, postpartumanxiety&stroke. Our Head of Research, Dr Sarah Schonberger, gave two workplace wellbeing webinars. One was to not-for-profit English Language Partners and the other to Auckland Transport, with a combined reach of well over 2,000 staff. Deep, important conversations took place between researchers, Foundation staff and members of the rural community at Fieldays during winter. Thousands of people visited BrainSpace at the Health Hub, walked through the giant inflatable brain, and picked up our ‘Top Tips for Brain Health’ postcard to share with whānau and friends. To see true impact, take a look at this feedback fromKaryn, whose family member lives with FND: “I had an appointment yesterday at our GP with the wellness practitioner. She’d been following your emails and recently watched the Jon Stone presentation. She gave me the presentation links and your page. I’mwiping tears. It is so helpful. We have sat in so many appointments feeling not believed, and fought hard to get anywhere, so thank you.” 31 Researchers aren’t the only ones intrigued by the brain. Ordinary Kiwis are also hungry for knowledge, and in 2024/25we stepped up our public outreachwith great results. Stepping up & reaching out: Supercharged info-sharing
