4 From our CEO The Neurological Foundation is deeply connected to its wonderful donors. Their generosity connects them with exceptional researchers whose commitment and dedication is helping turn theworld around. You’ll get to read about some of them in this report. The Foundation itself is growing connections with other like-minded organisations via the Neurological Alliance, which has grown to almost 20 members over the last couple of years. We collectively believe that collaboration is key to better outcomes for those living with neurological conditions. Along with the Foundation’s purpose of investing in research, we have a remit to educate Kiwis. Our goal is to help them understand these complex conditions better, and even take action to help delay or prevent onset. This year we’ve been connecting more deeply by spreading the word across various communities, both rural and urban, fromSouthland to Northland, from teenagers to older Kiwis. This year my family connection with a neurological condition has broadened my awareness of the flow-on impacts from stroke; the degradation to quality of life and the risks from other down-stream health conditions. Sadly, after supporting Dad through these challenges for the last two years, he passed away in February. This strengthenedmy connection to the important work theFoundation is leading, enabledby our loyal community, to help turn theworld around for the future. Rich Easton If I were to sumup everything that’s happened this year, one word comes to mind. Connection.
