SUMMER 2023 InTouch | 5 Free repairs on mobility products – apply now! Independent Living (Auckland only) is now accepting applications for FREE repairs on mobility products. That means that if you aren’t in a position to be able to pay for the necessary repair of your powerchair, mobility scooter, walker, wheelchair or other mobility product, they can take a look at fixing it for you, free of charge.* There are a number of simple ways to apply for a free repair. They just need you to do one of the below: A) Print and fill out the manual form on the website, take a picture of it and email it to repairs@ilsnz.org B) Ring us with your details and the team can fill out the form on your behalf 0800 625 100 NEWS ROUNDUP * Please note: • that this Funding is intended for people on a restricted income or benefit, so not all applications will be eligible for free repairs. • there are a number of different brands and models of electric wheelchairs and we may not be able to repair every model. Call us with your equipment brand and model details to discuss your repair. • if your mobility equipment was supplied by MOH, only MOH can do repairs. Debbie joins the Central Region branch part-time as a Community Co-ordinator, based in Napier. Some of you may recognise Debbie from Make-a-Wish where she spent 11 years in various roles. Debbie brings a warm, positive and energetic vibe to our team and we know the members are going to love working with her. Debbie Hoskins The Chancellor’s Circle recognises generous philanthropists who over the years have made important contributions to the University MDANZ inducted into the Chancellor’s Circle Denise Ganley (right), and her husband Steve Sharp. of Auckland, helping to shape its direction and achievements. On Thursday 16th November, The University of Auckland inducted the Muscular Dystrophy Association of New Zealand into the Chancellor’s Circle. MDANZ was recognised as a member of the Sir Douglas Robb Society, which acknowledges cumulative giving ranging between $100,000 and $1 million. Member Services Manager, Denise Ganley, accepted the honour on behalf of MDANZ.
