NEWS ROUNDUP Disability Connect support group Disability Connect runs a Parents Support Group meeting via Zoom every Monday from 7.00 – 8.00pm. This is open to anyone seeking advice or support for parenting, upcoming Needs Assessments, starting or leaving school and anything in-between. I wanted to share a positive experience and “thumbs up” for an excellent service from Go Local Cook Islands “swim with the turtles”. I do have physical restrictions in my arms and legs because of FSHD and did have some hesitation towards joining my wife on a “swim with the turtles” experience recently in Rarotonga. However, the encouragement from Matty (one of the “go local” boys) gave me sufficient reassurance to give it a shot and I joined a group of a dozen people all eager to be introduced to the turtles in the lagoon. We were about 10 minutes into the paddle (not yet in turtle territory) when I became anxious and made the call to return to shore, thankfully Matty persuaded me to continue with the experience promising that he would not leave my side. So, I did pluck up the confidence to continue and experienced exactly what was Comfort Cough The Co fort Cough is an excellent easy to use controls. It can be set up by a clinician in auto mode, and used in the home by the patient or caregiver. breathingandmedical.co.nz | solutions@breathingandmedical.co.nz | 0800 335 333 promised, one on one support for the entire experience. In my wife’s view Go Local Cook Islands provided a safe experience for us both and she had no need to be worrying about me in regard my limited physical ability. If you are in holidaying in Rarotonga and think that you should avoid the swim with the turtle’s experience because of physical limitations, I recommend that you chat with Matty and the team at Cook Islands Go Local and discuss the attention that they can provide for you.
