I had put my name down not long before Christmas and hadn’t expected to be contacted for a while as I knew the boat was very popular. So, I was really surprised and delighted when Tony called me less than two weeks later to say that they had a spot going spare in a few days’ time if I was interested. Denise has a ‘wish for fish ’ out on the Hauraki Gulf My partner Steve and I caught the bus into town early, bought our lunch and then wandered over to where the boat was moored at the Viaduct. There were about 8 of us plus caregivers, most in wheelchairs and a mix of different abilities. Everyone was issued with a life jacket and then taken to the wharf to get on board. The hoist onto the boat is the same as the ones used by mobility taxi companies so easily able to cope with heavy power
