The Cerebral Palsy Society Board for 2023-2024 is: THE NEWS How long have you been with the CP Society and what is your job? I have been the Communications Manager for just over two years. What do you love about your job? I love so much about my job! I love getting to meet members and their families and writing their stories so that other members know that they are not on this journey alone. What’s a successful day at work? A successful day at work is about creating content for social media, the website, Be Green & Be Seen and The Review magazine that makes a difference in the lives of the people reading it, that generates donations and awareness. If resources and funds weren’t an issue, what would you like to see our members enjoying? I would like to see members living life to the full, a life where barriers are non-existent. What do you do to relax outside of work? Outside of work I do my “other job” – I am a board member at my daughter’s football club, I coordinate the Academy and Holiday programmes, and I am the manager of her team. Meet our team Melanie Louden Each edition we introduce you to a CPS teammember. The Cerebral Palsy Society’s board remains the same following the AGM. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s AGM. From members who took the time to vote and those who attended the October 29 virtual meeting, to everyone who was nominated for board vacancies, and to the board members. The CP Society Board is made up of nine directors. This year there were four positions available, and six candidates kindly put their names forward. Congratulations to the four candidates who were selected at the AGM: • George Hewitt • Reuben Woods • Emma Lovett • Daniel Clay They are all returning board members, and we wish them all the best for their term ahead. Five board members retained their position on the Board until the 2024 AGM, and therefore did not stand for re-election. They are: • Katherine Thomas • Meg Smith • Merryn Straker • Murray Waring • Peter Wynne-Jones After the AGM Katherine Thomas handed in her resignation. We would like to thank Katherine for her time on the Board and her service to the Society. 2023 AGM update Thank you to Helena Chan and Trish McQueen who put their names forward to serve on the board. We’re sorry your nominations were not successful, but we remain grateful that we have people who want to support the Society, and advocate for its members, in this way. Thank you. We look forward to seeing what the year ahead holds for the Society. Reuben Woods Daniel Clay CHAIRPERSON/ PRESIDENT George Hewitt Emma Lovett Meg Smith VICE CHAIR/ SECRETARY Murray Waring Merryn Straker Peter Wynne- Jones TREASURER electionz.com was used to coordinate the voting process for the board member positions. Their online voting system is user friendly, and thanks to electionz.com’ s generosity, it was also very cost-effective for the Society. 4 | THE REVIEW SEP–DEC 2023
