THE NEWS There is no longer a two-year renewal process for the Total Mobility Scheme in the Auckland region. Once you have been assessed you are eligible to use the Total Mobility Scheme for as long as you need to. You are no longer required to contact an assessor agency to be reassessed every two years. Your Total Mobility card is yours and will remain active unless your mobility circumstance changes. If your Total Mobility card has an expiry date, it does not need replacing. New Total Mobility AT HOP cards are no longer issued with an expiry date. If you have moved to Auckland and have been part of the Total Mobility scheme in another region, you can have your details transferred. If you move out of the Auckland Council area to another region, you can request to transfer your details to the regional council you are moving to. It is for those who need help with pre-school or school-related costs at the beginning of the year. People can apply for the once- a-year payment every year between mid-January and the end of February, and it will be paid within 10 working days. People who are getting the Unsupported Child’s Benefit or Orphan’s Benefit are eligible and can receive payment for every child they get those benefits for. The payment helps with the costs that mostly happen at the beginning of the year, in particular pre-school and school-related costs, such as clothing, school fees and stationery. How much you get is based on the age of the child at the end of February each year. For more information go to www.tinyurl.com/bdh8fzvm School support JAN–APR 2024 THE REVIEW | 5
