At their November AGM, five PNZ Life Memberships were announced. Among the recipients was Anna Mackey - Cerebral Palsy Society’s Project Manager, New Zealand Cerebral Palsy Register. Anna was awarded Life Membership for her leadership in physiotherapy, particularly in the area of paediatric physiotherapy. She is also recognised for her work with the Register, and her research in Cerebral Palsy, paediatrics and rehabilitation to improve the health of people with Cerebral Palsy throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. The Cerebral Palsy Society is delighted that Anna’s dedication and commitment has been recognised in such a prestigious way, and warmly congratulates her on her Life Membership. LEAGUE SUCCESS In October 2022, a group of rugby league players from New Zealand competed in the inaugural Physical Disability Rugby League World Cup in England. Among the Physical Disability Rugby League New Zealand team were six members of the Cerebral Palsy Society – Jed Stone, Matthew Slade, Kent Stroobant, Phil Milne (Vice Captain), Delta Taeauga and Daley Manu. Some of those players received funding from the CP Society’s Individual Grant programme to help get them to the UK. The team fought through a number of injuries to make it to the final – going down to England 42-10. “Despite the things that came against us throughout the week, the team turned up, fought hard, with passion and pride and gave their all,” says Physical Disability Rugby League New Zealand team spokeswoman and Tour Manager Sandra Hickey.
