ABOUT US Who We Are The Cerebral Palsy Society of NZ is the only charity in Aotearoa dedicated to helping people affected by Cerebral Palsy (CP) reach their highest potential. Around one in 500 children are born with Cerebral Palsy in New Zealand each year - that’s more than 10,000 Kiwis. It is the most common physical disability in childhood, and many people with Cerebral Palsy experience significant barriers in everyday life. We help our members at every step of their journey, from childhood, through the teenage years and into adulthood. Our practical and emotional support is vital in helping our members cope with the day-to- day challenges they face, and live the lives they want to lead. What We Do We collaborate with our nationwide membership to deliver practical and emotional support that meets their needs. We provide information and guidance so that the people we support knowwhere to turn for help, and how to access the best treatment possible. We work to build social connections, a sense of belonging, and to enable freedom of choice and participation in society. We raise awareness so that all New Zealanders have a better understanding of Cerebral Palsy.
