3 Welcome Kia ora tēnā koutou katoa. Nau mai ko te whanau ko Queen Margaret College. Ni hao, Hei, Guten tag, Namaste, Hai, Ciao, Hola, Sawatdee, As-salam ‘alaykum, bon jour, Annyeonghaseyo, Konniichiwa. Welcome to Queen Margaret College! It is always a pleasure to welcome new students to QMC and I am thrilled that you have chosen to join us for the next step in your learning adventure. We understand how important the first few weeks are when settling into a new school. We have created this quick reference guide for students and parents, so you have all the information you need to become familiar with our tikanga (our ways). QMC aims to provide an environment where you are encouraged to take risks, are challenged, can be authentic and can aspire beyond what you believe you are capable of. When our students leave us, we want them to be passionate learners who are resilient, future focused leaders. Encourage your child to make the most of the opportunities that are here: • Join a new group in the arts, music or sports department • Follow strengths with passion and see where they lead • Be open to new ideas and thinking • Read widely and frequently. Our staff are extremely passionate about the wellbeing of our students, as well as their academic achievements. We know that quality learning is based around relationships, expectations and the flexibility to meet the needs of learners. Our students are at the centre of everything we do; great learning is a partnership. We pride ourselves on being a dynamic, inclusive and diverse community so your voice is important to us. I am incredibly proud of our school and the people who make up our wonderful community. I am really looking forward to seeing you in and around the school. Ngā mihi nui, Jayne-Ann Young Principal
