Year 9: A marae experience. Year 10: Preparation for the Year 11 Abel Tasman camp, including an overnight trek. Year 11: The Abel Tasman track, with its stunning vistas, golden sandy beaches, forest and birdlife, is an experience where students discover the meaning of resilience. Year 12: The Wairarapa experience is a chance for students to challenge themselves physically and mentally. Year 13: At the Leadership Conference Camp, Year 13 students learn the skills they will put into practice as a senior student throughout the year. International experiences Queen Margaret College encourages international experiences that foster language development and global citizenship. Students learn about new cultures, improve their language skills and become more engaged global citizens. In most cases, girls are billeted with host families, with the expectation that they will billet a student from the partner school when it is our turn to host. FromYear 9 onwards we offer international experiences with our sister schools in Tahiti, China and Australia. We also offer language trips to France, international experiences to Japan and Chile, and a service trip for Senior School students. Students also have regular opportunities to participate in overseas sporting and musical exchanges. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Students can take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award from age 14. Participants design their own Award programmes, set their own goals and record their own progress. The Award programme features three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level includes 4 specific categories that participants need to complete activities in (plus a fifth at Gold level): • Service • Physical recreation • Skills
