15 Senior School Being part of the Senior School is much more than the purchase of a new shirt with a white collar. Senior School students have the opportunity to challenge themselves in academic pursuits of their choice, grow intellectually, gain independence and demonstrate leadership. Our programmes help students move on to tertiary study and into fulfilling professional lives. We support students to develop strategies to cope with challenges they may face in their late teenage years. We aim to set them up with a toolkit for life beyond school, based on accessing support when needed and confidence in themselves to make values- based decisions. Senior School students are encouraged to take on formal leadership responsibilities and to lead by example both within the school community and beyond. This includes local and overseas service opportunities, sports and cultural activities, mentoring younger students and through their everyday interactions. We have a superb co-curricular programme, with numerous sporting teams, music groups, clubs, debating teams and service initiatives on offer. I encourage all students to get involved as a way to build friendships, develop skills and teamwork, and foster a sense of belonging and connection. We are proud to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma alongside NCEA. Queen Margaret College is committed to high academic standards, which encourage each student to achieve at their personal best. Our staff are highly motivated and committed to the success and wellbeing of all of our students. We aim to establish relationships based on mutual respect and a shared understanding of common goals. We are proud to have students who care about each other and their community, and who are aware of the opportunities and responsibilities they have as part of our school. Recognising that our behaviour, attitudes and actions impact those around us is the basis for a considered and responsible attitude to life. It is also the springboard to recognising that our talents can be used to benefit others. I am thrilled to welcome your family to our community and hope you will feel a strong sense of connection and challenge throughout your association with the College.
