14 Middle School Nau mai ki te kura waenga. Welcome to our Middle School. We provide a caring environment that enables every student to approach their academic and personal growth with strength and resilience. Our students often feel a mix of emotions as they start this new chapter in their learning. We ensure they are supported to become independent learners, fully equipped to succeed in the Senior School and beyond as principled, articulate and caring members of society. The middle years can be a challenging time, so we aim to create a positive, safe environment where our students find a sense of belonging and direction. We encourage students to be cognitively, emotionally and spiritually aware as they navigate the joys and challenges of their early teenage years. We foster strong relationships with our students that allow them to flourish academically. This approach develops learners who have a growth mindset, helping them to make the most of their individual talents through hard work, good strategies, and effective feedback. In the Middle School we see leadership as a service to others. Students are able to develop their leadership skills on the Student Council, as Form class leaders, and with team and co-curricular opportunities. Our Student Ambassador programme provides students with the opportunity to represent the school at open days, guide families around the school and act as role models for other students in the Middle School. Year 8 and 10 students also get the opportunity to be House Leaders and work with other leaders in the Junior and Senior schools. Queen Margaret College places immense value on community service to further students’ understanding of how their learning connects to the real world. We look forward to working with you to become passionate learners, resilient women and future leaders. Rena Day Head of Middle School
