There is a school that has stood for over 100 years. It has been named for the strong and resilient Queen Margaret of Scotland, and the girls who are educated there are taught to become strong, resilient leaders. On the front lawn of the school, there is a statue of a woman with no face and no name. She is taller than average and was crafted out of Oamaru stone by a sculptor named Hilary Osmers. She is called the Daughter of Troy and was gifted to the school on its 50th Jubilee in 1969. She does not face the school but instead looks away from it, almost as if she were its guardian. Legend says the Daughter of Troy told stories of the school and of its students, stories only she knew from years of protecting it. 1.
