Inching forward - one win at a time For people living with a neurological condition, small achievements can be a very big deal. We call these wins inchstones, because they're one step closer to a milestone. As researchers work to unravel the mysteries of the brain, they, too, measure success in inchstones. Good science is methodical, precise and painstaking. It takes time, and it takes patience. Onlywhen we look back at where we started canwe see howfar we've come. Since 1971, research funded by the Neurological Foundation has enhancedourunderstandingof a vast range of neurological conditions and diseases. The work of many researchers and clinicians, funded by our supporters, has led to important discoveriesover time. This report focuseson some of the impact made by researchers in the 2022/23 financial year. Because the nature of science is ongoing and collaborative, some inchstones and milestones we've shared could be the result of years of work, while others may not reach patients for some time yet. Each story may be celebrated in itsown right, while alsobeing seen as part of a bigger picture. Education is another important, ongoing aspect of our work. At schools andretirement villages, workplaces andrural settings, we've been spreading the word about brain conditions and the excitingworldof neurological research. All this impact is made possible by the loyal support of you, our community. By fundingwork to prevent or cure neurological conditions wherever possible, and providing a greater quality of life to those who are impacted, we're working towards a brighter future - together.
