18 The Neurological Foundation Thank you to our founders and sponsors As the Neurological Foundation celebrates its 50th anniversary, 2021 marks another significant milestone – 30 years of partnership with Mitre 10 New Zealand. One of New Zealand’s most enduring corporate sponsorships, the longstanding relationship has seen Mitre 10 cover the primary production costs of the Foundation’s annual appeal campaign, contributing a total of approximately $2M in value over the years. The hardware retailer also distributes donation envelopes throughout its store network, along with promotional messaging, to help increase fundraising. Mitre 10 has held a variety of creative activities during annual appeal weeks over the years to educate people about the brain and neurological disorders, raising awareness of the Neurological Foundation and the research it funds. My Amazing Brain was a popular multi- year in-store initiative designed to help children learn about the brain and brain health through a range of fun activities and interactive talks with brain scientists. At another annual appeal week, we featured a giant brain which people could walk around and crawl through to learn about the different regions and the functions they control.
