MDANZ STAFF AND NATIONAL COUNCIL MEMBERS SHARE THEIR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MEMORIES FEATURE Joy and Trevor Jenkin National Councillor and National Executive Chairperson (photo 1) . We always have special fond memories of our son Bradley at Christmas time. This photo was taken in 2010 at a MDN Christmas lunch at Hamilton Gardens. Bradley loved going to these lunches and meeting people. Merry Christmas to everyone and cherish those special moments. Denise Ganley’s (Northern Branch Office Manager/ Member Services Manager) dog Mr Woofles got into the Christmas spirit last year! (photo 2) Brian Hadley, Accountant and Business Manager, has family all across the world. This photo was from a special Christmas in 2019 when they were all together last to celebrate. (photo 3) LynnWilliams, MDN Fieldworker, reflects on her favourite Christmas memory. It was December 24th, 1972, this was our last Christmas in the UK. I was 15 years old. We had put up our huge white Christmas tree in the corner of the lounge and hung the decorations. We were trying to stay awake, as we were going to Midnight Mass and in those days, it was held at midnight. Getting dressed into warm clothes didn’t stop us freezing as we walked past all the houses lit up with decorations on our way to church. Waking up on Christmas morning, I had my fingers crossed I had got those white platform shoes and flared jeans I wanted. Opening the curtains to have a look and YES it was snowing. Best Christmas! Vivienne Fitzgerald , South Island Branch Co-ordinator. I know it’s Christmas when it’s time to make the lolly wreath. Friends and family enjoy this each time they visit during December. It’s my favourite time of the year, it brings joy and happiness and hope for the coming year. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year! Yaz Dolbell-Neville , National Councillor (photo 4) Our Christmases are usually spent at home as a family with lots of food, laughter and good times. Our traditions for Christmas always include a visit to Santa, then on Christmas Eve, a box of goodies for Cherisse (9) and Glenn (7), and on Christmas Day a grazing platter for lunch, followed by presents, and later, dinner which is usually a roast or ham and salads, followed by my double decker trifle for dessert.
