53 Queen Margaret Calling :: ISSUE 62 :: October 2018 COUNTDOWN TO CENTENARY The Queen Margaret College Centenary is coming up and we are thrilled to reveal some of the exciting events taking place next year. Centenary celebrations will take place fromThursday 6 June–Sunday 9 June 2019. Centenary organiser Libby Carson says she is excited for the weekend celebrations. Events will include a School in Action Day to explore the changes around the school, a School Production, Decade Dinners, a Gala Dinner and a Long Lunch. “No gathering of our QMC Old Girls, parents and staff would be complete without a Gala Dinner,” Libby says. “We will be celebrating 100 years of educating some of the finest women to come out of Wellington and New Zealand. It will be a spectacular evening of celebration, connection and camaraderie.” Libby recommends people start making travel plans toWellington in June. “We are working with some of Wellington’s best accommodation providers to give us fantastic accommodation rates for you,” she says. The Centenary Committee is also working on a “partners programme” for those who want to come to Wellington with their partner but not every Centenary event. “We want to make the Centenary a reason to come to Wellington for everyone,” Libby says. Libby and the Centenary Committee are encouraging Old Girls, former families and former staff to make sure their details are up to date. “Our most important focus at the moment is getting connected with as many of you as possible and we require your assistance with this. “Our website has an easy to complete online form to register your details. “We are also asking you to reach out to your networks to help us in our mission to get to as many Old Girls, staff and parents as we possibly can,” Libby says. The team is also looking for any memorabilia and stories people would be happy to share about their time at QMC. “If you have any photos or memories you would like to share, we’d love to receive them. We’re happy to pay for postage or return the items if required.” Photos and memories shared could be later used in the Centenary celebrations.
