20 Estimated cost Each member of Star Boating Club must pay an annual subscription fee. For College Students, this is approximately $750.00–$800.00 for competitive rowers and $300.00 for coxswains. These subscriptions will be invoiced through the school. The estimated cost for being part of QMC rowing fluctuates from season to season and is governed by; 1. The number of girls who participate as some costs can be reduced and there are fixed costs to be shared 2. The number of camps attended 3. The number of regattas attended 4. The location of the Secondary Schools National Rowing Championship (Maadi) for that specific season (either Lake Karapiro or Lake Ruataniwha). Your primary costs rotate around the accommodation charges, food and transport cost to attend; • Training Camps at Whanganui–Spring Camp, Lake Karapiro–Summer camp, andWhanganui– pre-Nationals training weekend. • Regional / North Island and National Regattas, including: Whanganui Jury Cup, Cambridge Town Cup (Karapiro), North Island Secondary Schools regatta (Karapiro), Marlborough Champs (Wairau, Blenheim) when viable. May also include Whanganui Champs &Whanganui Secondary Schools Champs dependant on dates. Rowing will cost approx. $3,500 to $4,000 per year per girl which includes Star Boating Club fees but excludes Maadi Cup. The National Secondary Schools Championship Regatta is treated as a separate cost as the regatta is alternated from the Lake Karapiro, Cambridge to Lake Ruataniwha, Twizel. This year Maadi Cup will be in Karapiro and costs will include: • Transport costs fromWellington to Karapiro for the crews • Proportional cost for transporting the boats fromWellington to Karapiro • Accommodation and food costs • Entry Fees • Selection for Maadi is based on performance at KR2 and NISS. More often than not novices do not attend Maadi. Fundraising Rowing is a capital intensive sport so every year QMC Rowing budgets to raise a substantial amount of money to buy and replace boats and other equipment required for the sport. It is expected that all girls and all families are involved and play their part in helping with fundraising and sponsorship activities to ensure we have the equipment necessary for the rowing squad to function and for your daughter get the most from the sport. Please take this into account when making your decision about rowing.
