Homework might include: • Completion of or extension of work done in class • Readings, from class • Research • Revision of material covered in class • Written responses • Reinforcement of fundamental skills ENGLISH (LANGUAGE & LITERATURE) Course details: MYP Language and Literature encourages learners to develop a genuine interest in language and literature and its role as a powerful tool for communication. Students will build on their listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing and presenting skills with the aim of being able to critically think about the world around them and express themselves creatively. Students’ interaction with texts in Language and Literature will give them opportunities to explore and inquire into moral, social and cultural factors in order to develop insights and empathy across and within communities. Course Information: Students will • study a range of literature, both visual and written • analyse how different authors and creators use language to communicate • be exposed to different genres and mediums • use language to produce texts in a range of styles and mediums • be subscribed to the grammar and spelling website wordflyers.com.au at a cost of $18 +gst Homework expectations: Homework might include: • completion of, or extension of, work done in class • reading • research • revision of material covered in class • completion of Wordflyer exercises
