14 Headlines Our first year at Round the Bays On the sunny (thankfully!) morning of 8 March, nearly 80 advocates of the Neurological Foundation got together to run/walk/hop/skip the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays fun run. Started in 1972, this is New Zealand’s largest fun run and is an opportunity for people of all ages and levels of fitness to get together, roam through Auckland’s beautiful ports, and of course, have fun. That wasn’t all though. As part of our Community Fundraising program, Raising Hope, participants also had the opportunity to fundraise for the Foundation, for the 1 in 5 Kiwis who are affected by neurological conditions. Thorne Snow, our Marketing and Engagement Coordinator, guided these efforts. “As Round the Bays was our first big debut into the world of Community Fundraising, we didn’t really know what to expect. The response however was amazing! We had just under 80 active fundraisers and in total we raised over $3500. A very successful first effort! I would like to give a special thank you to all those who took part and fundraised. You are now part of the Foundation family and we are so pleased to have you.” The day itself was filled with fabulous costumes, lots of cheering, and many people reaching their goals! Beginning at 9.30am, and finishing at 2.30pm, over 34,000 people made their way across the 8.2km journey.
