ANNUAL IMPACT REPORT 2022 CATCHING UP FROM COVID-19 Although we held fewer physical events this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were able to reschedule some of our in-person speaking events for later in the year when restrictions eased. For instance, Sir Richard Faull’s extremely popular Brain Awareness Month talk in New Plymouth was shifted from March to June. His lively and engaging talk was about the wondrous and internationally unique Neurological Foundation Human Brain Bank at the University of Auckland. This event was a sell-out with an audience of more than 160 in attendance. One of the attendees left this feedback: “Last week, my husband and I listened to Sir Richard Faull at the Devon Hotel, New Plymouth. How fortunate were we to hear such a talented and passionate gentleman speak of the research being undertaken in our country for the betterment of understanding the human brain. Thanks to the Neurological Foundation and all you do in supporting the amazing scientists working in this field.” Other more informal engagements included visits to the Manawatu 4WD Club; Auckland Classic &Vintage Motorcycle Club; and a Dunedin ‘by the fireside chat’ with research alumni. HEADLINES Our popular quarterly magazine Headlines is a chance to share some of our incredible stories with you, such as breakthroughs and the fascinating projects underway. It is also a great pleasure to feature our supporters’ stories and fundraising efforts in the magazine.
