APRIL 2022 InTouch | 11 Rachel Petersen and her daughter Molly are the proud owners of Moments With Love. 45-year-old Rachel and her 20-year-old daughter create high quality gift boxes with a twist. Their mission is simple; to provide their customers with an experience that will bring joy and create treasured memories. Rachel has Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy which causes muscle weakness in the face, shoulder blades and upper arms, and in Rachel’s case, also in her legs. Having worked in the disability sector for many years, when Molly came to Rachel with a business idea that would support their health and disability needs, she knew it was time to make the next step in her career. “We wanted to create a way for ourselves to have employment that light our souls on fire and a way to help other small businesses, and local people,” says Rachel. “When I watched Molly’s passion for this concept, I knew it was something special.” Launched in 2020, the creative duo creates gift boxes that are carefully curated to feature something to wear, something to do, and something delicious to eat and Rachel Petersen tells us all about her social enterprise gift boxing company and how she is supporting the disability community. Moments With Love A BUSINESS BRINGING JOY AND TREASURED MEMORIES drink. The boxes also feature products from companies supporting people with disabilities. Moments With Love have partnered with leading Kiwi social enterprise companies supporting people with disabilities to bring their customers the highest quality of award-winning products. “I have had a dream for years to create a way for people that love each other to connect, make memories and share moments,” says Molly. Not only do Moment With Love directly help those with disabilities, 5% from every box sold goes directly to the Chris Love Foundation. The Foundation was set up to honour the memory of Molly’s Dad, Chris Love, who experienced bipolar disorder. “It was one of his dreams to give back to youth with mental health in Aotearoa,” says Molly. The Chris Love Foundation will distribute micro-loans to Kiwi’s with mental health or disabilities. So that they, like Rachel and Molly, can start their own businesses with a head start. “I have grown up around disability all my life, I always wanted to find a way to support the community but I just didn’t know how. Now I know I’ve found my how,”says Molly. Left to right: Rachel and Molly outside Moments With Love. A beautiful Moments With Love gift box. Proud owners, Rachel and Molly in store.
